Art Direction

This has not been a good semester in the university, I've not really enjoyed the subjects. So, I'm gonna tell you about a subject that I had the second semester of the last year and it was called Art Direction. To me the subject basically was about telling without words, but objects, clothing, colors, textures and the positions of these. So, in class we talked about the significance of colors and how to use it to express, we made moodboards, which are a collage where we put ideas to the project, like color palette, clothes pieces that we want for the textures, pictures of objects and everything that worked for the general idea. Also, we painted, drew and describe famous people only by their objects. It was very fun.

This is one of the subjects that I love the most in the university, because I think that the art direction reflects so purely the essence of the cinematography. Art direction, like I said, means express without words, and that is beautiful.

The pictures that I put down below belong to a short film called "Lost In The Emerald Ice", directed by Isis Olivero (if you read this I <3 U) and I was in charge of the art direction, with a lot of help of Isabella Yubarta. The film was about the curiosity and the sexual discover of two teenagers in the early 70's. So, besides I tried to acclimate everything like the 70's, I decided to put a lot of flowers in every scene, use very cheerful colors for the love and happy scenes and cold colors to the sad scenes. I feel very proud of this and I enjoy it very much. I hope you can see the film one day.
